Mr. Louis Peneguy served in the Army in the Army Communication Service. Mr. Peneguy describes his training in Biloxi, Mississippi and the hardship of some of the exercises. Serving in the Pacific theater, Mr. Peneguy was sent to Iwo Jima twenty-five days after the Marines took the island. He remembers the conditions on the island, and how he spent eight hours a day in a twelve foot hole dug into the volcanic ash, while communicating weather conditions and Japanese locations to be used in strategic planning.
