@thundercat_pumyra2 years ago I bought 2 sticks of this RAM a year ago. They work perfectly with my AMD system. I recently bought 2 more to fill all 4 RAM slots.
Only problem I have with them is that they changed them since I first bought them. Got some new ones and even though they're the same exact model number the chips inside are different. SK Hynix instead of Micron, and now dual ranked instead of single. They still work fine together so far so no problem with that. Just wanted to make people aware in case it matters to them.
However, here's the actual problem. They also changed the LEDs. The newer ones have 8 LEDs and the old ones had 5. The newer ones look better. much better. The old ones had 5 bright spots directly over the LEDs with a much more clear light diffuser. The new ones have a much more opaque light diffuser, which makes the colors blend much better and hides the LEDs. But the motherboard apparently sees them as the same RAM and seems like it assumes that all 4 sticks have 8 LEDs each. Which seriously screws up the look on the rare occasions where the RGB actually works at all. I got it to partially work once. But ever since my motherboard won't even detect that there's any RGB on them. I used the old obsolete software from the manufacturer and that seems to work a bit better. But the software is, as I said, old and obsolete. It was discontinued a couple years ago and the software itself is pretty basic and crap.
Just wanted to throw that out there for anyone who already has a couple of these RAM sticks and want to buy another couple. If you have the older model and purchase the newer model, the RGB might not work properly.
But if you're buying them for the first time now and you get all of the newer ones, they're great. But some places may still have the older ones in stock. So if you get RAM with only 5 LEDs in them, I'd definitely return them and try buying from somewhere else.
Edit: this video shows the newer LEDs in case anyone is wondering. Here's a link to the older version for comparison
