In this lesson we use two sets of objects to show 5 in more than one way. We show number pairs that make 5. We write the number of counters that are used to make 5. We show and write number pairs that can make 5. We solve a word problem to find the missing number. Counters are a good way to model a problem because we can show a given number to see how many are missing.
