@garywagner24669 months agoI hate to tell you, but net zero is not achievable ever. Furthermore, it isn’t even necessary. Take a hard look at nuclear energy, especially for the north and oil sands. Yes, increase the percentage of wind and solar in a measured, practical way. Offer homeowners solar panels if their circumstances warrant them. Isolated communities could use some support, too. Build a few more wind farms and solar arrays on marginal, not top quality arable land when the local residents say they want them. Put up to date processes in place for commercial scale wind and solar projects that include closure and reclamation provisions. Don’t listen to the greens, NDP, and other idiots who have never built anything so don’t know the first thing about it. Tell the feds to butt out. ...18

@
@logiczchance1019 months agothere can never be a net zero effect since the air and hence pollution is not static, it travels around the globe. so though some might want to pretend they can achieve this, they will have no control over what other nations are doing with regards to increasing their polluting ways. also, how can they achieve a net zero target when the canadian industry relies heavily on polluting the environment as a bi product effect of their work. lastly, nobody voted on the matter...so such a take is kind of undemocratic. i think the best way to approach this issue is to focus on those areas in which humans can truly make a difference...such as going to war against solar reoccurring cycles of intense periods of activity, and hence planetary warming. ...1

@
@Diademic1119 months agoCanada's contribution to global carbon emissions is less than 2%. China and India's contribution to global carbon emissions are over 30% because they rely heavily on the burning of coal. So if our situation is so dire and the damage to the environment will be irreversible in 7 short years unless we make drastic changes, then why doesn't the federal government complete a pipeline to the coast so that Canada can export its vast supply of natural gas to countries like China and India to help them get off of coal and ease the pressure on the environment. Even the climate alarmists have to acknowledge that natural gas is considerably cleaner than burning coal is even if you believe the utter nonsense that it's not a clean source of energy. The fact that there's no one in the government who even considers this ought to tell you everything you need to know about the credibility of the junk science they are using to declare a climate emergency. 50+ years worth of failed predictions and the only thing that gives credibility to this junk science is the fact that they censor all opposition, they shun debate and whatever evidence they claim to have that proves man made climate change is not available to be scrutinized by opponents, the media is complicit and the government's are either naive or knowingly using climate change to swindle Canadians out of billions of dollars since 2016. Remember just 30 years ago they were warning us of an imminent ice age by the year 2000 and it never happened. England, the Maldives, parts of California and Florida were to be lost to the ocean but that has hasn't happened either. There is a natural explanation for whatever miniscule rise in temperature our planet has experienced but the Earth's inherent weather systems just cannot make their way into any discussion about climate change. To emphasize my point look up the medieval drought period of 900-1300, a whole 400 years before the start of the industrial age.. so what caused that period of warming if we weren't burning fossil fuels at the time? The fact of the matter is El Nino and La Nina contribute far more to the rise or decline in global temperatures than the alarmists would like us to believe. ...
