Dr. Debmita Dutta presents her recipe for Aliv Sattu Paratha. A delicious and healthy snack for Smart Mums and children!
Ingredients:
For the dough:
Aliv or water cress seeds, powdered-1 tbsp
Whole wheat flour-1 cup
Salt-To taste
Ajwain-1 tsp
Water (For the dough)
For the filling:
Sattu powder-¼ cup
Salt-¼ tsp
Mustard oil-1 tsp
Roasted Jeera powder-½ tsp
Oil-4 tbsp
Method:
1. Take wheat flour in a bowl, add salt, aliv powder and ajwain. Mix well.
2. Pour water little by little to make a soft pliable dough.
3. For the filling, take the sattu in a bowl.
4. Add in salt, jeera powder and mustard oil.
5. Add a little water and mix well to resemble bread crumbs.
6. The consistency should be such that when you press the sattu in your palm, it should hold the shape.
7. Break off a lemon sized ball of dough and roll it into a small roti. Spread some oil on it.
8. Place two spoonful of the sattu filling at the centre of the rolled out dough.
9. Bring the ends together and seal the filling inside.
10. Roll out slowly so that the filling doesn’t come out.
11. Heat tawa and roast chapathis on both sides with a bit of oil.
